I've heard so many people claim that they "believe" in God as if that is all that is required. They go about their day, doing whatever tickles their fancy and flaunting God's law and commandments as if they somehow have immunity.
The "I'm not perfect" defense seems to be their mantra as they spew forth profanities, blasphemies and assaut anyone who challenges their flagrant and very public sin with scripture. Quote what God said and they instantly claim that you are "judging them" as if quoting scripture is the same as judgement.
I've heard others claim that they are going to hell as if that is "good". These same people claim that they are going to have lots of company, will be drinking alcohol and celebrating with their friends and family. Obviously they haven't read what scripture says or they wouldn't dream up such preposterous things.
The book of James talks about how even the demons believe in God and His word and tremble in fear. If hell was so "fun" and "great", why would demons tremble? What is there to be afraid of? There are obviously scriptures which state quite plainly what there is to fear about hell. There are scriptures which state quite plainly why the demons are trembling. The devil and his fallen angels (all created beings), know that their time is short. They also know that God created them and that He has far more power, strength, ability, might and knowledge than they ever will.
You see God is intelligent and would never create beings that had more power than He does. There are many attributes that God has that the devil and his fallen angels will never have. For one thing, the devil is sinful, God isn't. The devil is arrogant, God isn't. The devil is boastful, God isn't. The devil is limited, God isn't.
No where in scripture does it talk about the devil punishing God. No where in scripture does it ever say that the devil parted the waters, calmed the storms, healed the blind, cured the leper or brought back the dead to living as God did. In the beginning, God created the heavens and the Earth rather than the devil. God created the animals, the devil didn't. God separated the waters and the land, the devil didn't. God created the Bible for mankind, the devil didn't. God sent His one and only begotten Son to suffer and die for our salvation, the devil didn't. I wonder who they'll attempt to blame for their wanton disregard for scripture? I wonder who they'll attempt to blame for their wanton and willful sin?
